Fineract for enterprise clients

A pioneer in the financial market since 1999, running a multi-billion-dollar business, a large enterprise, part of NASDAQ-100, present globally.

The inception of the project was driven by the realization that volume requires scale, and scaling incurs significant costs. Today, scaling is predominantly supported by cloud providers.

But what about software on these cloud platforms? The options are typically to buy, build, or use open-source software at no cost.

The project aimed to replace an existing licensed SoR with Fineract, which had previously managed short to mid-term Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) loan products.

Fineract needed to be capable of managing millions of active loans with daily batch processing at the close of business within one hour. Integration with the customer's other back-office systems was achieved through an upscaled event framework. The non-functional requirements were complemented by loan-specific and general ledger-specific functional requirements.

At Docktape, we conducted the technical analysis and design of the largest system-wide changes and provided technical leadership at the project's initiation and during its implementation. The coordination of this multi-vendor project was managed by our team. We established the development processes, CI/CD, and quality frameworks, including automation with Gherkin and code reviews.

Besides actively participating in the development, we designed crucial changes to elevate the system's performance under significant load and oversaw the implementation to ensure effective development. The architecture design we provided for all major changes of Fineract became the de facto template on the project.
