Cloud migration of a Bank's data platform
Moving the entire data platform of one of the largest banks in the region is a complex challenge. We had the privilege of being invited as cloud experts to help prepare the executive decision-making process.

The Challenge
The bank was considering moving their data platform onto the cloud instead of operating it on their on-premises systems. They wanted to be more cost-effective, have resiliency and elasticity brought into their systems.
Solution
Combining data strategy with cloud implementation poses significant challenges, particularly in migrating large datasets. Expertise in data management, cloud infrastructure, and migration strategy is essential. Our assistance enabled the team to understand the broader benefits of cloud adoption beyond solely considering cost, while acknowledging its importance in decision-making.
We facilitated the creation of a cost assessment model and presented various alternatives, including hybrid solutions, using Platform as a Service (PaaS) elements or replacing some of their solutions with Software as a Service (SaaS) options. The scale of the challenge is evident from the substantial numbers involved: 24 systems spanning 300 virtual machines, 3000 vCPUs, and 50 TB of RAM. (Cloud footprint is estimated)
Results
The presentation to the CDO helped in deciding how to start the full-scale migration project. Eventually the decision was a go and the bank is actively working on cloud adoption.
